This is an investigational anti-carcinoembryonic antigen (anti-CEA) chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy developed by Southwest Hospital of the Third Military Medical University in Chongqing, China. The therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's autologous T cells to express a CAR targeting CEA (CEACAM5), a cell surface glycoprotein overexpressed in various solid tumors. It was evaluated in a first-in-human Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT02349724) for patients with CEA-positive relapsed or refractory metastatic cancers, including colorectal, gastric, lung, breast, and pancreatic cancers. The treatment aims to induce targeted cell lysis of CEA-expressing malignant cells through the activation of the engineered T cells upon antigen recognition.
