Overview

anti-EGFR CAR T cells (RenJi Hospital) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Developed by RenJi Hospital, the therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes and binds to EGFR, a cell surface receptor that is amplified or overexpressed in approximately 40-60% of glioblastomas. The treatment is designed for patients with EGFR-overexpressing malignant gliomas, including glioblastoma and gliosarcoma. The clinical protocol typically involves non-myeloablative conditioning (lymphodepletion) followed by the infusion of the engineered T cells, which are intended to mediate direct cytotoxic antitumor responses against EGFR-positive cancer cells.
