anti-galectin-1 monoclonal antibody (clone 3) is a neutralizing monoclonal antibody specifically designed to target and inhibit Galectin-1 (GAL1), a glycan-binding protein that facilitates tumor progression, immune evasion, and metastatic dissemination. Developed by researchers at IBYME-CONICET and the spin-off Galobio, this antibody (clone 3) has demonstrated the ability to disrupt hormone-driven mammary gland remodeling and early metastatic spreading in preclinical models of HER2+ breast cancer. By blocking GAL1, the antibody reduces the release of early circulating tumor cells (CTCs), decreases the formation of transformed ducts, and significantly curtails lung metastasis. It also appears to modulate progesterone receptor (PR) expression in mammary luminal cells, suggesting a role in regulating hormone-driven epithelial remodeling.
