**Anti-GPC3 + USPION** is a combination of an **anti-GPC3 targeting agent** (either monoclonal antibody or, in some cases, an aptamer) conjugated to **ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (USPION)**. This conjugate is developed as a molecular MRI probe for **targeted imaging of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)**, leveraging the high and specific expression of glypican-3 (GPC3) on HCC cells. The anti-GPC3 antibody (or aptamer) provides the molecular targeting, while the USPION functions as the MRI contrast agent, allowing for specific detection through shortened T1 and T2 values, particularly enhancing T2-weighted MR imaging of HCC. This platform is considered a promising approach for noninvasive and early diagnosis of primary and metastatic HCC. The studies in the literature are at the preclinical or in vitro experimental level, and there is no evidence of clinical or commercial-scale manufacturing or regulatory approval.
