Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This anti-LAG-3 monoclonal antibody is an investigational immunotherapy being developed by Anhui Sinobioway Medicine, a subsidiary of the Beijing Sinobioway Group, for the treatment of various cancers. The antibody specifically targets the Lymphocyte-activation gene 3 (LAG-3), an inhibitory immune checkpoint receptor expressed on activated T cells, natural killer (NK) cells, and B cells. By binding to LAG-3 and preventing its interaction with Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) class II molecules, the drug aims to alleviate T-cell exhaustion and restore the immune system's ability to identify and destroy tumor cells. This mechanism of action is part of a broader strategy in oncology to utilize checkpoint inhibitors, often in combination with PD-1/PD-L1 antagonists, to overcome immune evasion in the tumor microenvironment.
