Overview

Anti-SARS-CoV-2 equine immunoglobulin F(ab')2 fragments (INOSARS) is a hyperimmune equine serum-derived therapeutic developed for the treatment of COVID-19. It is produced by immunizing horses with the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. The resulting polyclonal antibodies are processed to remove the Fc portion, leaving only the F(ab')2 fragments. This design aims to maintain high neutralizing potency while reducing the risk of systemic allergic reactions, serum sickness, and antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) associated with the equine Fc region. The fragments work by binding to the viral spike protein, thereby blocking its interaction with the human ACE2 receptor and preventing viral entry into host cells. TecSalud has evaluated this therapy in Phase 1 clinical trials for patients with mild COVID-19.
