ATT + oral steroid is a combination treatment regimen investigated by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia) for the management of idiopathic uveitis in patients who test positive on the Interferon Gamma Release Assay (IGRA). This regimen combines standard Anti-Tuberculosis Therapy (ATT) — typically a fixed-drug combination of isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol — with systemic oral corticosteroids such as prednisone. The ATT component targets *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* to address potential latent infection as an underlying cause of ocular inflammation, while the oral steroids act as broad immunosuppressants by binding to glucocorticoid receptors to reduce inflammatory mediators. The protocol is being evaluated in prospective cohort and phase 2 randomized controlled trials (NCT04088019, NCT05005637) conducted at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital to determine clinical improvement and transcriptomic changes, including type I interferon gene expression profiling, in this specific patient population.
