Overview

A combination therapy consisting of an antiandrogen (such as bicalutamide, nilutamide, flutamide, enzalutamide, apalutamide, or darolutamide) and docetaxel. Antiandrogens are agents that block the action of androgens at the androgen receptor; they are used to inhibit androgen-driven tumor growth in prostate cancer. Docetaxel is a taxane-class chemotherapy agent that disrupts microtubule function and inhibits cell division. This combination is primarily used in the treatment of metastatic hormone-sensitive (castration-sensitive) prostate cancer (mHSPC), often alongside androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). The rationale for combining these drugs is to intensify treatment by targeting both hormonal pathways and cell division mechanisms, which has been shown to improve survival outcomes in clinical trials[1][3][4][6].
