A research-stage multifunctional nanocarrier platform designed for the treatment of glioblastoma (GBM). It consists of porous silicon nanoparticles (pSiNPs) loaded with antisense oligonucleotides (AON) specifically targeting the downregulated in renal cell carcinoma (DRR) gene. The DRR protein is a key driver of GBM invasion and metastasis. The pSiNPs serve as a biocompatible, biodegradable delivery vehicle capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier (BBB) via Class A scavenger receptors (SR-A). Once internalized, the AON is released to knock down DRR expression, thereby inhibiting tumor cell migration. The platform can also be co-loaded with chemotherapeutic agents like temozolomide (TMZ) to enhance cytotoxicity against GBM cells.
