Overview

Apatinib + carboplatin + docetaxel is a combination regimen of three chemotherapeutic agents used in oncology, particularly for advanced solid tumors such as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and other cancers. Apatinib is an oral small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor that selectively targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2), thereby inhibiting tumor angiogenesis. Docetaxel is a taxane-class cytotoxic agent that stabilizes microtubules, preventing cell division and inducing apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy drug that causes DNA crosslinking and inhibits DNA synthesis, leading to cell death. The combination aims to leverage the antiangiogenic effects of apatinib with the cytotoxic actions of docetaxel and carboplatin for synergistic antitumor activity. This regimen has been explored in clinical trials for patients with advanced or refractory cancers, especially after failure of standard therapies[1][5][7].
