Overview

Apatinib + etoposide is a combination therapy used primarily in the treatment of various advanced or refractory cancers, including small cell lung cancer (SCLC), platinum-resistant ovarian cancer, and metastatic HER2-negative breast cancer. Apatinib is a small molecule inhibitor that selectively targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) tyrosine kinase, thereby blocking angiogenesis and tumor blood supply. Etoposide is a semisynthetic derivative of podophyllotoxin that inhibits DNA topoisomerase II, leading to DNA strand breaks and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. The combination has demonstrated efficacy as later-line therapy for patients with limited options due to resistance or progression after standard treatments[1][2][5].
