This combination therapy regimen consists of the selective vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2) tyrosine kinase inhibitor apatinib, the anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody tislelizumab, and the XELOX chemotherapy doublet (oxaliplatin and capecitabine). It is being evaluated as a first-line treatment for patients with advanced HER2-negative gastric or gastroesophageal junction (G/GEJ) adenocarcinoma, particularly those with poor prognostic factors such as signet ring cell carcinoma or peritoneal metastasis. The regimen aims to achieve synergistic anti-tumor activity by combining anti-angiogenesis, immune checkpoint inhibition, and cytotoxic chemotherapy. The study (RENMIN-213) is led by Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University and involves an initial induction phase of eight cycles followed by maintenance therapy with apatinib and tislelizumab.
