Apatinib + VEGFR2 antibody is a combination therapy consisting of apatinib, an oral small-molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor that selectively targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2), and a monoclonal antibody directed against VEGFR-2. Apatinib inhibits angiogenesis and tumor growth by blocking the tyrosine kinase activity of VEGFR-2, thereby preventing downstream signaling involved in endothelial cell proliferation and new blood vessel formation[1][4]. The addition of a VEGFR-2-targeting antibody further blocks the activation of this receptor, potentially providing synergistic inhibition of angiogenesis. This combination aims to enhance anti-tumor efficacy by dual blockade of the same critical pathway in tumor vascularization.
