apixaban + digoxin

**Apixaban + digoxin** is a combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients: apixaban, an oral anticoagulant that is a direct and highly selective inhibitor of factor Xa, and digoxin, a cardiac glycoside that inhibits the Na+/K+ ATPase pump, increasing intracellular calcium and improving cardiac contractility. Apixaban is used in prevention and treatment of thromboembolic events (including stroke and deep vein thrombosis) in conditions such as nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, and after major orthopedic surgery. Digoxin is primarily used for heart failure and certain arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation. There is no significant pharmacokinetic interaction between apixaban and digoxin; both can be coadministered safely under appropriate medical supervision.
