Overview

Apricoxib + lapatinib + capecitabine is an investigational combination therapy studied for the treatment of advanced or metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer. Lapatinib is a small molecule, oral, reversible dual tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting both epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR/ErbB1) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2/ErbB2), interfering with tumor cell proliferation and survival[6][7]. Capecitabine is an oral prodrug of 5-fluorouracil, a cytotoxic antimetabolite that inhibits DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cells. Apricoxib is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor under investigation for its potential to enhance the efficacy of anticancer regimens by modulating inflammation and tumor microenvironment. The combination has been evaluated in phase 2 clinical trials for patients with HER2-positive breast cancer who have progressed on prior therapies[2].
