Overview

APVO436 + MEC refers to the combination of **APVO436**, a recombinant humanized bispecific antibody that targets both CD3 (on T cells) and CD123 (on leukemia cells), with **MEC**, a chemotherapy regimen composed of mitoxantrone, etoposide, and cytarabine. APVO436 is designed to redirect the patient's T cell cytotoxicity specifically to CD123-expressing leukemic cells, leading to targeted cell lysis. The combination is being studied for the treatment of **relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML)**, with the intent to leverage both immune-mediated and cytotoxic mechanisms against leukemia. Key clinical research shows that APVO436, especially in combination regimens, has shown favorable response rates and a manageable safety profile in early-phase evaluation. MEC is a well-established chemotherapeutic protocol for AML rescue and salvage therapy and consists of the small molecule drugs mitoxantrone (a topoisomerase II inhibitor), etoposide (a topoisomerase II inhibitor), and cytarabine (a nucleoside analog antimetabolite)[5][2][1].
