ARC-520 + cetirizine is a combination of ARC-520, an investigational RNA interference (RNAi) therapeutic designed to reduce hepatitis B viral antigen production, and cetirizine, an approved second-generation antihistamine. ARC-520 was specifically developed to target and degrade hepatitis B virus (HBV) transcripts derived from covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA), resulting in a reduction of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and other viral antigens; its mechanism is gene silencing via RNA interference. Cetirizine is a histamine H1 receptor antagonist used to manage allergic symptoms, acting by inhibiting the effect of endogenous histamine. The combination does not represent a known clinical practice or recognized combination product; there is no evidence in the literature of co-formulation or clinical testing of these two agents together. ARC-520's primary indication was chronic hepatitis B infection, while cetirizine is used for allergic conditions.
