Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Arexvy + Abrysvo is a combination of two recombinant subunit vaccines used for the prevention of lower respiratory tract disease (LRTD) caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Both vaccines target the RSV F protein in its prefusion conformation to stimulate an immune response and generate protective antibodies. Arexvy contains a recombinant RSVPreF3 antigen adjuvanted with AS01E (containing MPL and QS-21), while Abrysvo is a bivalent, unadjuvanted vaccine containing stabilized prefusion F proteins from both RSV A and B subtypes. Both are approved for use in adults aged 60 years and older; Abrysvo is also approved for pregnant individuals to protect infants up to six months old. The mechanism of action involves induction of immunity against the prefusion F protein, preventing viral attachment and infection[1][2][4][6].
