A combination of the amino acid arginine and the mineral calcium carbonate, most commonly formulated as an 8% topical oral paste or toothpaste for the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity. This technology is clinically proven to provide rapid and lasting relief from dentinal sensitivity by occluding (plugging) open dentin tubules. The mechanism involves both components working synergistically—arginine (a naturally occurring amino acid in saliva) and calcium carbonate accelerate natural remineralization processes, depositing a dentin-like mineral containing calcium and phosphate within tubules and on the tooth surface. This occlusion is resistant to normal pulpal pressure and acid challenge. The combination also helps reduce caries risk by supporting a healthier oral microbiome, raising pH, aiding remineralization, disrupting dental plaque formation, and shifting bacterial communities toward less pathogenic profiles[1][3][4][7][8][9].
