Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hypertensolol is a combination kit product developed by Physician Therapeutics, a division of Targeted Medical Pharma, for the management of hypertension and related cardiovascular conditions. The kit contains two distinct components: Hypertensa, a medical food containing a proprietary blend of amino acids including L-arginine, and metoprolol tartrate, a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. Metoprolol works by reducing heart rate, cardiac output, and blood pressure, while L-arginine serves as a precursor for nitric oxide (NO) synthesis. Increased NO levels promote vasodilation and improve endothelial function, potentially enhancing the antihypertensive effects of metoprolol and allowing for lower dosages of the beta-blocker under medical supervision.
