This is a combination of two pharmacologically active agents, arginine vasopressin and physostigmine. Arginine vasopressin is an endogenous peptide hormone that acts as a potent vasoconstrictor and antidiuretic by binding to vasopressin receptors, primarily V1 and V2 subtypes. It plays a key role in water homeostasis and vascular tone regulation. Physostigmine is a reversible cholinesterase inhibitor that increases acetylcholine levels at synapses by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase, thereby stimulating both muscarinic and nicotinic receptors in the central and peripheral nervous systems[4]. The combination has been studied experimentally for its effects on the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, cardiovascular responses, and potential roles in stress response modulation[1][3]. There are no known approved therapeutic indications for this specific combination; it has mainly been used in research settings.
