Overview

This is a combination regimen consisting of three drugs: - **Aribulin** (also known as eribulin) is a synthetic microtubule inhibitor derived from the marine sponge Halichondria okadai. It disrupts microtubule dynamics, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells. Aribulin is primarily used for metastatic breast cancer and liposarcoma[2][9]. - **Carboplatin** is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that causes DNA crosslinking and inhibits DNA synthesis, resulting in cell death. It is widely used in the treatment of ovarian, lung, and other cancers. - **Bevacizumab** (brand name Avastin) is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). By inhibiting VEGF-A, it prevents angiogenesis—the formation of new blood vessels—thereby restricting tumor growth[6][8][10]. The combination has been studied preclinically and clinically for synergistic antitumor activity in various solid tumors including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), ovarian cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and others[1][3]. The rationale for combining these agents lies in their complementary mechanisms—direct cytotoxicity from aribulin/carboplatin with antiangiogenic effects from bevacizumab.
