Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of two antipsychotic medications with different mechanisms of action. Aripiprazole is an atypical (second-generation) antipsychotic that acts as a partial agonist at dopamine D2 receptors and serotonin 5-HT1A receptors, while functioning as an antagonist at serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. Perphenazine is a typical (first-generation) antipsychotic from the phenothiazine class that primarily works as a dopamine D1 and D2 receptor antagonist. It also binds to alpha adrenergic receptors and calmodulin. This combination has been studied for treatment-resistant schizophrenia.
