Overview

ArithroMab is a specialized cocktail of four monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) used primarily as a research tool to induce Collagen Antibody-Induced Arthritis (CAIA) in mouse models. Developed and manufactured by MD Bioproducts, the cocktail consists of antibodies that recognize well-defined, conserved epitopes on Type II collagen (CII), a major structural component of articular cartilage. When administered to mice, typically followed by a lipopolysaccharide (LPS) booster, these antibodies bind to the joint cartilage and trigger an acute inflammatory response. This response mimics the effector phase of human rheumatoid arthritis, characterized by rapid onset of joint swelling, synovial hyperplasia, and inflammatory cell infiltration. ArithroMab is widely utilized in preclinical studies to evaluate the efficacy of anti-inflammatory drugs and to investigate the pathogenic mechanisms of autoimmune joint disease.
