Aroplatin + capecitabine is a combination of two chemotherapeutic agents used in cancer treatment. Aroplatin (L-NDDP) is a lipophilic platinum analog designed to overcome resistance to traditional platinum-based drugs and enhance delivery into tumor cells. Capecitabine is an orally administered prodrug that is converted in vivo to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), which acts as an antimetabolite by interfering with DNA synthesis and function[1][4][5]. Capecitabine selectively targets tumor tissues due to higher concentrations of activating enzymes in tumors. The combination aims to exploit the complementary mechanisms of action—DNA crosslinking by the platinum agent and inhibition of DNA synthesis by 5-FU—to maximize anti-tumor efficacy. Capecitabine has been approved for use in various cancers including colorectal, breast, gastric, esophageal, gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma, and pancreatic cancer[2][4][5]. Aroplatin has primarily been investigated in clinical trials for solid tumors.
