Overview
This is an investigational combination therapy consisting of three agents: - **Arsenic trioxide** (Trisenox), an antineoplastic that induces apoptosis and differentiation in malignant cells. - **Ascorbic acid** (vitamin C), which may enhance the cytotoxic effects of arsenic trioxide by depleting intracellular glutathione. - **Bortezomib** (Velcade), a proteasome inhibitor that disrupts protein degradation pathways in cancer cells. The combination has been studied primarily for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. Preclinical data suggest synergistic anti-tumor activity when these agents are used together. Clinical trials have demonstrated feasibility and some clinical benefit in heavily pretreated patients with multiple myeloma[1][2][3][4][5][7].
