This drug is a fixed-dose combination of three active ingredients: artemether, lumefantrine, and methylene blue. Artemether and lumefantrine are well-established antimalarial agents used together as a standard therapy for acute uncomplicated malaria caused by *Plasmodium falciparum*. Artemether is an artemisinin derivative that acts rapidly against the erythrocytic stages of the parasite by generating cytotoxic radicals through interaction with heme in the parasite's food vacuole. Lumefantrine is a longer-acting antimalarial that interferes with heme polymerization, leading to toxic buildup within the parasite. Methylene blue (MB) has been investigated as an adjunctive antimalarial due to its ability to inhibit glutathione reductase in *Plasmodium* species and disrupt redox cycling, thereby enhancing parasite clearance and potentially reducing transmission. The triple combination aims to improve efficacy, reduce resistance development, and possibly block transmission more effectively than dual therapy.
