Overview

Artemisinin + piperazine is a hypothetical or non-standard combination of two distinct antiparasitic agents. Artemisinin is a sesquiterpene lactone derived from the plant *Artemisia annua* and is widely used as an antimalarial, particularly in artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs). Its mechanism involves generating reactive oxygen species that damage malarial parasites, primarily by interacting with heme iron within the parasite, leading to inhibition of protein and nucleic acid synthesis[6][10]. Piperazine is an anthelmintic agent used to treat intestinal worm infections such as ascariasis (roundworm) and enterobiasis (pinworm), acting by paralyzing worms so they can be expelled from the body[8]. There are no known approved pharmaceutical products or clinical evidence supporting the use of this specific combination for any indication. Each drug has distinct mechanisms and indications—artemisinin for malaria, piperazine for helminth infections—and they are not typically co-formulated or co-administered.
