Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Artificial Bovine Bile + Metronidazole (人工牛黄甲硝唑胶囊) is an approved fixed-dose combination drug primarily used in China for the treatment of oral and dental infections. It consists of metronidazole, a synthetic nitroimidazole antibacterial agent, and artificial bovine bile (Calculus Bovis), a traditional Chinese medicine component. Metronidazole exerts its effect by inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis in anaerobic bacteria, which are common pathogens in dental infections. Artificial bovine bile is included for its anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties, helping to alleviate pain and swelling. The drug is indicated for conditions such as acute pericoronitis, alveolar abscesses, pulpitis, and periapical periodontitis. It was developed and is manufactured by Shenghua Pharmaceutical Technology.
