Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Artcereb is an artificial cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) solution developed to closely match the electrolyte composition, pH, and osmotic pressure of natural human CSF. It is primarily indicated as an irrigation and perfusion solution during neurosurgical procedures to prevent tissue damage, maintain intracranial pressure, and provide a physiological environment for the brain and spinal cord. Beyond its surgical use, Artcereb is being investigated as a diagnostic tool in the CSF refill test for patients suspected of having cerebrospinal fluid hypovolemia. In this application, the solution is injected intrathecally to evaluate symptomatic relief and changes in CSF pressure, aiding in the diagnosis of orthostatic headaches associated with low CSF volume.
