ASC22 + antiretroviral therapy

ASC22 + antiretroviral therapy is a combination therapeutic regimen comprising ASC22 (Envafolimab), a subcutaneously administered single domain antibody targeting PD-L1, in conjunction with standard antiretroviral therapy (ART) for HIV-1 infection. ASC22 inhibits the PD-L1 pathway to restore HIV-specific immune responses by relieving immune exhaustion, while ART suppresses HIV replication through multiple antiretroviral agents targeting distinct steps in the viral lifecycle. The regimen is under clinical investigation to assess its potential for immune restoration and reduction of the latent HIV reservoir, potentially contributing to a functional cure in HIV-1-infected patients. ASC22 is developed by Ascletis and is being tested in Phase II trials in combination with ART in individuals with virologically suppressed HIV infection[1][2][3][4].
