Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Carbium is an oral multi-nutrient (hematinic) combination supplement manufactured by Al-Madina Pharmaceuticals. It is formulated as a capsule containing carbonyl iron, folic acid, zinc sulfate monohydrate, thiamine mononitrate (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), nicotinamide (vitamin B3), and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Carbium is indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of iron, folic acid, zinc, vitamin B-complex, and vitamin C deficiencies, particularly during pregnancy, lactation, and in geriatric patients experiencing generalized weakness. The carbonyl iron component provides a highly bioavailable and low-toxicity source of elemental iron to support hemoglobin synthesis, while the accompanying vitamins and zinc act as essential cofactors for erythropoiesis, DNA synthesis, and cellular metabolism.
