Overview

ASN51 + fluvoxamine is a combination of ASN51, an oral small molecule inhibitor of O-GlcNAcase (OGA), and fluvoxamine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). ASN51 inhibits OGA, an enzyme implicated in pathological protein aggregation, particularly relevant to neurodegenerative and central nervous system (CNS) disorders. Fluvoxamine primarily blocks the reuptake of serotonin in the CNS, thereby increasing serotonergic neurotransmission and treating conditions such as obsessive compulsive disorder; it also binds to σ1 receptors but has minimal action on other receptor types. The combination does not reflect an established marketed therapeutic regimen but might represent an investigational or research use, as ASN51 remains in early-phase clinical trials as a monotherapy.
