Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ASN51 + paroxetine is a **combination of ASN51, an oral small molecule inhibitor of O-GlcNAcase (OGA) under development for neurodegenerative diseases (notably Alzheimer's disease), and paroxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) approved for depression, anxiety disorders, and other psychiatric indications. ASN51 inhibits OGA to reduce tau protein aggregation in the central nervous system, which is believed to slow disease progression in neurodegenerative disorders. Paroxetine selectively blocks the serotonin reuptake transporter, leading to increased synaptic serotonin, and is used in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, and related conditions.** Clinical studies have investigated the drug-drug interaction profile between ASN51 and paroxetine in healthy subjects[1][3][4][7].
