Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ASP5541 + prednisone + prednisolone is an investigational combination regimen under evaluation for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer, including metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) and metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC). ASP5541 is a long-acting injectable prodrug of abiraterone (abiraterone decanoate), a *CYP17A1 inhibitor* that suppresses androgen biosynthesis, a crucial target in prostate cancer therapy. Prednisone and prednisolone are corticosteroids administered concomitantly to reduce the risk of mineralocorticoid excess and manage adverse effects related to androgen deprivation therapy. This regimen is being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials, both in comparison to and in combination with standard oral abiraterone acetate plus corticosteroids, for patients who have not previously received androgen receptor pathway inhibitors[1][2][3][4].
