Aspalathus linearis extract + Polypodium leucotomos extract is a botanical photoprotective combination commercialized under the brand name **Aspa-Fernblock®**. It consists of a specific extract of *Polypodium leucotomos* (Fernblock®) combined with both fermented and unfermented extracts of *Aspalathus linearis* (Rooibos). This natural combination is designed for both topical and systemic photoprotection strategies to protect the skin from ultraviolet (UV) radiation damage. The technology works by stimulating endogenous cellular mechanisms, including the activation of the **NRF2 pathway**, which regulates antioxidant responses. Research has demonstrated that this combination provides synergistic effects in protecting against oxidative stress, preventing DNA photodamage (such as CPD and 8-oxo-dG), and preserving **Vitamin D Receptor (VDR)** expression levels in skin cells, which are typically decreased by oxidative stress.
