aspirin + dipyridamole is an oral combination antiplatelet therapy developed and manufactured by Hubei Biocause Pharmaceutical. It consists of two active ingredients with complementary mechanisms: aspirin and dipyridamole. Aspirin acts by irreversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), which prevents the formation of thromboxane A2, a key mediator in platelet aggregation. Dipyridamole inhibits the activity of phosphodiesterase (PDE), leading to increased intracellular levels of cAMP and cGMP, and also blocks the uptake of adenosine into platelets and other cells, further enhancing its antiplatelet effects. This combination is approved for the secondary prevention of ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attacks (TIA).
