Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aspirin + indomethacin is a combination of two nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) and indomethacin. Both agents act primarily by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, leading to decreased synthesis of prostaglandins, which are mediators of pain, inflammation, and fever. Aspirin also irreversibly inhibits platelet aggregation via COX-1 inhibition, providing antiplatelet effects. Indomethacin is a potent NSAID used for moderate to severe pain and inflammatory conditions such as arthritis. The combination is not standard clinical practice due to increased risk of adverse effects including gastrointestinal bleeding, renal impairment, and other serious side effects associated with concurrent NSAID use[1][2][8]. There are no widely recognized or approved fixed-dose products containing both drugs.
