Overview
Aspirin + ketamine is an investigational fixed-dose oral combination of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) aspirin and the NMDA receptor antagonist ketamine. This multimodal analgesic approach aims to provide synergistic pain relief by combining the peripheral anti-inflammatory and antiplatelet effects of aspirin with the central analgesic and dissociative properties of ketamine. The formulation has been studied for acute musculoskeletal pain in emergency settings as well as for postoperative pain management after total knee replacement surgery. Early clinical studies suggest that this combination can offer effective pain control with a favorable safety profile, potentially reducing opioid requirements. Additionally, it is being explored as an adjunctive therapy in treatment-resistant depression.
