Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aspirin + rosuvastatin is a fixed-dose combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily for the prevention of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. Aspirin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with antiplatelet properties, acting by irreversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase 1 (COX1), thereby reducing thromboxane A2 production and preventing platelet aggregation. Rosuvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that lowers cholesterol by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis in the liver, leading to reduced low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and increased high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. The combination targets both lipid lowering and antithrombotic pathways to reduce the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease[1][2][5][6].
