Aspirin + sertraline is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents, each with distinct mechanisms of action. Aspirin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that irreversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), leading to decreased synthesis of prostaglandins and thromboxanes, which results in analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and antiplatelet effects. Sertraline is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that increases synaptic serotonin levels by inhibiting its reuptake into presynaptic neurons, primarily used for the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders. The combination may be encountered in clinical practice when both pain/inflammation management and antidepressant therapy are required; however, co-administration increases the risk of bleeding due to additive effects on platelet function[1][7]. This combination should be used with caution under medical supervision.
