Overview

This is a combination therapy consisting of three drugs that work through different mechanisms to treat cancer, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Atezolizumab is an immune checkpoint inhibitor that targets PD-L1, preventing it from binding to PD-1 receptors on T cells, thus enhancing the immune system's ability to detect and destroy cancer cells. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), inhibiting angiogenesis and cutting off the tumor's blood supply. Tiragolumab is an anti-TIGIT monoclonal antibody designed to block the TIGIT receptor, which normally suppresses immune cells that would attack tumors. By blocking TIGIT, tiragolumab may restore immune response against tumors. The triplet combination has shown promising results in clinical trials for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma, with improved objective response rates compared to atezolizumab plus bevacizumab alone.
