Overview
Atezolizumab + platinum-doublet chemotherapy is a combination regimen used primarily for the treatment of certain advanced cancers, especially non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). **Atezolizumab** is a monoclonal antibody that targets programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), restoring anti-tumor immunity by blocking its interaction with PD-1 and B7.1 receptors. **Platinum-doublet chemotherapy** refers to the combination of a platinum-based agent (such as carboplatin or cisplatin) with another chemotherapeutic (such as etoposide, pemetrexed, or paclitaxel). This combination has received FDA approval as first-line therapy for extensive stage SCLC and is a standard therapy for advanced/metastatic NSCLC.
