Overview

This combination is used to rapidly reverse sedation caused by dexmedetomidine. Atipamezole acts as an α2-adrenergic receptor antagonist, competing with dexmedetomidine for receptor binding sites, thereby reversing its sedative effects. Caffeine enhances this reversal by acting as a stimulant, further accelerating emergence from sedation.
