Overview

AD504 is an investigational, oral pharmacologic combination therapy developed by Apnimed for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), particularly in patients who also experience sleep disturbance. It consists of two active pharmaceutical ingredients, atomoxetine and trazodone, dosed once daily at bedtime. Atomoxetine is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI), while trazodone is a serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor with sedative properties. The combination aims to address both OSA and associated sleep disturbances by leveraging the complementary mechanisms of its components. In Phase 2 clinical trials, AD504 demonstrated significant reductions in apnea hypopnea index (AHI) and hypoxic burden compared to placebo, with a favorable safety profile[1][2][6][8]. Further development is ongoing as part of Apnimed's MARIPOSA study.
