G2402 is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) small molecule drug developed by BCWorld Pharma for the treatment of hyperlipidemia. It combines atorvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin), with ezetimibe, a selective cholesterol absorption inhibitor. Atorvastatin works by inhibiting the rate-limiting enzyme in hepatic cholesterol synthesis, while ezetimibe targets the Niemann-Pick C1-like 1 (NPC1L1) protein in the small intestine to reduce the absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol. This dual mechanism effectively lowers low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels more significantly than either agent alone. G2402 is being developed as a generic or incrementally modified drug (IMD) in the South Korean market, where it is marketed under the brand name Atozetimibe.
