Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Atorvastatin + ezetimibe + acetylsalicylic acid is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) small molecule therapy in development by Midas Pharma for the management of dyslipidemia and the reduction of cardiovascular risk. The combination leverages three distinct mechanisms: atorvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, reduces hepatic cholesterol synthesis; ezetimibe, a cholesterol absorption inhibitor, targets the Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) transporter in the small intestine; and acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), a cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor, provides antiplatelet and anti-inflammatory benefits. By combining these agents into a single oral tablet, the product is intended to simplify complex treatment regimens for patients requiring intensive lipid-lowering therapy and secondary cardiovascular prevention.
