Drug intelligence / Profile preview
STATIN-AF10 is a fixed-dose combination of atorvastatin and fenofibrate marketed by SSK Pharma. Atorvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that reduces cholesterol synthesis in the liver, lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and triglycerides while increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). Fenofibrate is a fibric acid derivative (fibrate) that activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-alpha), leading to increased lipolysis and elimination of triglyceride-rich particles from plasma. Together, this combination is used to treat mixed dyslipidemia, hypercholesterolemia, and hypertriglyceridemia, and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke.
