Atorvastatin + metformin is a fixed-dose combination of two small molecule drugs used primarily for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who also have dyslipidemia or high cholesterol. Atorvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that lowers LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and raises HDL cholesterol by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis in the liver.
