Atorvastatin + olmesartan is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily for the management of cardiovascular risk factors. Atorvastatin is a statin (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor) that lowers cholesterol by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis in the liver, thereby reducing low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and overall cardiovascular risk. Olmesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that lowers blood pressure by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in vascular smooth muscle, resulting in vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. The combination may be considered in patients who require both lipid-lowering therapy and antihypertensive treatment.
